This means the company has now joined the group of pioneering companies which use the dual study programme “Mechanical Engineering within a Practical Setting” at the University of Applied Sciences to promote their young talent.
The President of the University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Umbach, welcomed the signing of the agreement together with the Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Rolf Roskam as well as the two PROPLANT Directors Markus Schick and Harald Scheder: “I congratulate you on your decision to include this innovative approach to training in the package of measures you deploy to promote your company’s young talent.”
The courses offered by the University of Applied Sciences cover a total of nine such study programmes. Around 450 young women and men are currently enrolled here. Both the University as well as the business community report that the track record of the students and graduates has been excellent over the years. “This is due in part to the dovetailing between theoretical and practical aspects during the studies, and in part to the very intensive support provided by the respective companies. The outstanding examination results are proof of this,” declares Roskam.
“This approach offers both parties clear advantages,” explains PROPLANT Director Markus Schick. “Students learn about our company as well as practical aspects from the outset; this helps to create a sense of identity. The financial incentives derive from the internship agreement, which also guarantees that the semester fees will be paid by our company. This gives trainees greater financial flexibility. In addition is the high-quality engineering training provided by the University of Applied Sciences. In view of the general shortage of junior specialists, for PROPLANT itself the key objective is to promote young talent and to do this optimally and from the earliest stage possible.” Information about the course is available from PROPLANT under Tel. +49 (0)5362/174-103, Ms Linhart or under www.fh-wolfenbuettel.de.
